At Bay Area Heart, we offer a comprehensive program for the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias) from common palpitations to complex electrical abnormalities of the heart. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms like a racing heart, skipped beats, or lightheadedness, our team is here to provide clarity, expert care, and long-term solutions.

We are proud to welcome Dr. Mohamad Saeed, a highly respected cardiac electrophysiologist, to our team. Dr. Saeed brings advanced expertise in managing complex arrhythmias and offers specialized procedures such as ablation and device-based therapies.

What Are Arrhythmias?

Arrhythmias are irregular heart rhythms that can originate in different parts of the heart:

  • Atrial arrhythmias: such as atrial fibrillation (AFib), atrial flutter, and supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)—can cause palpitations, fatigue, and increased stroke risk.
  • Ventricular arrhythmias: including premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) and ventricular tachycardia (VT)—may be more serious and require urgent evaluation.
  • Bradycardia (slow heart rhythms): often due to issues with the heart’s natural pacemaker or conduction system.

Symptoms That May Suggest an Arrhythmia:

  • Palpitations or fluttering sensation in the chest
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue or reduced exercise tolerance

Our Evaluation Approach:

  • In-depth Consultation: Thorough history-taking and physical exam to understand your symptoms and health background.
  • Arrhythmia Monitoring:
    • External monitors (Holter monitors, event recorders, Zio patch)
    • Implantable loop recorders for long-term rhythm surveillance when needed
  • Advanced Cardiac Imaging:
(Echocardiography, Stress Testing, PET CT if indicated)

Treatment Options:

Depending on your diagnosis and risk profile, treatment may include:

  • Lifestyle and risk factor modification (e.g., reducing caffeine, treating sleep apnea)
  • Medications to control heart rate or rhythm
  • Catheter Ablation to eliminate abnormal electrical pathways causing arrhythmias
  • Pacemaker or ICD implantation for patients with slow heart rhythms or life-threatening arrhythmias

With Dr. Saeed’s addition to our team, we now offer on-site advanced electrophysiology consultations and procedures, providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatment options in a community setting.
